Department In the research group “Advanced Catalysis” of the department Technology & Innovation of SABIC Europe in Geleen, we are continuously looking for enthousiastic HBO trainees with affinity for the challenging interplay of groundbreaking chemistry and its possible application in current or future processes of SABIC. The “Advanced Catalysis Group” monitors the new developments in the area of catalysts for polyolefin preparation. Besides this, we are also exploring the fundamental processes that take place when using these catalysts. The Challenge Investigation towards new polyolefins. The organic-preparative trainee period will involve the synthesis and mechanical testing of new polyolefins to be obtained using the latest existing catalysts. The project involves an interesting combination of (1) polymer synthesis on small bench scale followed by larger scale experiments using automated high pressure reactors, (2) polymer characterization and (3) mechanical testing of the products. As a trainee, you will get familiar with all aspects of the polymer production process. The assignment as trainee/intern is typically for a period of 4-6 month, starting as soon as possible.
