Department The Global Lexan* Product Technology team works on Platform and New Product Introduction and gives technical support to the Engineering Resins Business Unit. Being polycarbonate the biggest part of our Thermoplastics materials and in order to support our PC growth strategy, we are looking for fulltime experienced Product Development Specialists. He/She will strengthen our team in Bergen op Zoom and will lead new technology efforts for developing new polycarbonate products. The Challenge Provide technical leadership in the design and commercialization of new polycarbonate products for the Core and Performance Resins Operating Units. This includes developing materials to provide growth to the business by accessing new markets, working closely with customers and the commercial team to define new opportunities, and working with suppliers to find cost effective material solutions for new engineering materials. Focused expertise is required to invent, develop and apply new technology to polycarbonate materials using statistical design of experiments to deliver Lean Six Sigma performance. Rigor is needed to take new products from the laboratory to commercialization, ensuring consistent manufacturing performance of the products. As member of the Lexan* Product Technology team, you will lead new technology efforts for developing products and platforms within polycarbonate for the Core Resin and Performance Operating Units Your main responsibilities will be: Lead Product technology efforts to develop innovative solutions for customers with close interaction with them and our Product Management and Commercial teams. Provide technical leadership supporting scale-up and implementation of new next generation Lexan* products working closely with process Technology, and Manufacturing teams in Operations, Quality Control and Supply Chain. Lead New Product Introductions following DFSS approach and execute technology programs to drive short and long term business growth strategy. Provide and develop technical leadership in initiating and driving Lexan* Platform programs. Some examples of the programs are: Next Gen ECO FR (unfilled and filled), sustainable product opportunities (PCR, biocontent), Healthcare,…. Provide technology support to Core Resin, and Performance operating units and manufacturing as needed to help troubleshoot and optimize performance within the polycarbonate product. Ensure effective interaction and communication across functions and to business management. Your Profile University degree in Polymer Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science. 5+ years of experience in product development, preferably polycarbonate. Strong knowledge of polymer fundamentals and materials characterization is desired. Experience in linking scientific principles, chemistry and polymer structure and formulation to real world applications preferred. Ability to work with customers and translate their needs to implement solutions. Demonstrated technology excellence with proven ability of program management and coordination. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, organization and interaction skills. A high-energy personality with the ability to identify and lead innovative opportunities. Ability to work in cross-functional and global teams. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Proven six sigma skills, preferably Black Belt certification.
