Meteorologist
Where you will work Asset Optimisation and Trading (AOT) is the Business Division where all asset optimisation and trading activities are centralised for the Vattenfall Group. We are located in multiple sites across Europe with more than 600 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Poland. We trade the full range of energy commodities such as electricity, gas, oil, coal, freight, renewable energies and emissions and take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits. We optimise and hedge Vattenfall’s generation assets in order to manage risk efficiently and optimise the portfolio value. These activities are the basis for maximising profitability and ensuring continuous business growth for Vattenfall and its customers. For our office in Amsterdam we are looking for a: Meteorologist What you will do Analysing the impact of weather on globally traded commodities Pro actively support traders and analysts with specific weather needs regarding both short term and long term weather developments Support/contribute in development of commodity price models Be the one who starts up the local meteorologist service in Amsterdam Contribute with input and development work to the rest of the team of meteorologists within AOT Who we are looking for University degree in meteorology Good quantitative, programming and model building skills Very strong team player who is proactively supporting the team approach and communicates well across all levels of the organisation Excellent knowledge of European weather drivers and patterns Strong performance orientation and capability to deliver consistent high value input to the group Readiness to take on responsibility and to take an active stand on future weather developments Natural ability to understand the cause of actions and willingness to take own initiatives Some 5 years forecasting experience, preferably in a Trading environment Experience on wind and solar power forecasting preferred What we offer you We offer excellent fringe benefits such as a collective insurance; an excellent pension fund; a collective profit bonus; paid travel expenses and 25 vacation days.
